[unpaid/samples/affiliate/ad] I never kick myself more than when I take the lids off lipsticks without realising the product name is on the lid, not the stick, so I end up photographing the shades and having no idea which is which when I put them back. Luckily, the last time I did this I got a very solid piece of advice from a reader telling me that on the side of the bullet, I’ll find the name. I had to pull the refill out of the cap and there it was! So, thank you again, if it was you!
The Rouge Allure Liquid Lips are not the problem here – they’re easy to tell apart as one is beige, Golden Beige, and one is burgundy, Spicy Prune.
This is Golden Beige on my lips – it’s got a slight shift of pinky peach and I absolutely love it for an understated but unexpected glam look. The texture is different to regular lipstick – it feels a little bit cool when it hits the lip and you do need to give it time to ‘set’. It’s remarkably lightweight and not drying – if anything it makes lips even softer.
Fancy Prune is very dramatic – I’d definitely wear it for a short time because that metallic sheen is irresistible but I think I need to soften all the other make up around it. I took these pictures at the same time as the CHANEL eye palette and given the time again, I’d definitely let the Liquid Lip take centre stage. Both shades are HERE for £37 each.
These are the culprits! CHANEL Rouge Allure L’Extrait (all refillable, by the way).
This is Roaring Purple which has some brown notes in it which I really like – although I see I haven’t put it on terribly well.
And an even worse application for Midnight Red! It has a bit of a metallic element to it so it’s extra vampy. I need to remember to put my glasses on nowadays for applying lipstick. I love the smell of these lipsticks – they just smell how I feel a lipstick should – a bit sweet, a bit waxy and a bit perfumed. It’s not overwhelming at all but it’s just there and it reminds me of my mum’s lipsticks when I was little.
This is Beige Brut – an easy to wear nude/neutral shade and the perfect companion I think to the eyes. I am realising I haven’t posted about the palette yet so I will remedy that this week or next. The CHANEL Rouge Allure L’Extrait shades are HERE for £46 (although a quick tip – Sephora has all the shades in L’Extrait bar Roaring Purple and Midnight Red for £36 at the time of writing HERE).

Forget about the lipsticks–your eye makeup looks great! I love the goth-y look on you.
thanks Arpita! It’s the Chanel palette which I am going to post as soon as I get a moment!
Gorgeous! I LOVE that Fancy Prune on you – such an interesting complex hue… “Bold sophistication”- that’s what comes to mind, no matter how contradiction-ary it may sound…
I don’t think I love it though! It feels harsh.
Oh your eye makeup looks so fab Jane. I think pretty much every one of these suits you. I think Fancy Prune might come home with me, plum is very much my jam and I pretty much wear it as a neutral (deeply dark skinned), but do not have a metallic one that doesn’t pull “1980s frosty” on me.
I hear you on the frosty but I think this is another level – it’s more metallic than frosty – would love to see on deep tones because I think that’s its natural home for looking amazing 🙂
No No No ! Spicy Prune is perfect with this eye makeup!
Oh do you think so? Good to know, thank you 🙂
Seconding that – your whole look is amazing with the top tying it all together as a gothy rock chick look!
thank you so much !
I love your shirt, can you please let me know where you purchased it?
Thanks Suzy – it was from M&S last year 🙂
See? I told you! I’m so happy!
