[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m really happy to see refillable lipsticks becoming more mainstream. Eventually, I think they’ll almost all become so but it takes a while to deal with componentry changes without altering the design too much. Once you’ve bought your lipstick you can buy any refills you want without ever having to re-buy the original case too. Not sure how well I’d hold up using that rule but it’s an option. I had a bit of a panic once I’d taken the refills out of the cases that I hadn’t recorded the colours but they’re actually written on the side (whew!) – warning you now, you’ll either need a magnifying glass or the sight of an eagle.
CHANEL Rouge Allure L’Extrait High Intensity Lip Colour
The lipsticks are a juicy finish (yay) and they’re pigment packed – a full intent lipstick. For anyone who says the difference between high street and luxury make up is ever decreasing just needs to slide this texture along their arm to feel exactly why it’s luxury. The full colour glides on in one whispery sweep. And, that’s no disrespect to other brands – maybe it’s like a wool sweater and a cashmere sweater; they’re both lovely and stylish but one just feels a bit better (and costs more!).
There are 20 shades of CHANEL Rouge Allure L’Extrait High Intensity Lip Colour – all the shades I have here are quite deep so one go-around would be plenty for me. Although the colours are big, the feel on the lip is light and hydrating using ume oil which til this day I had never heard of – it’s a name for Japanese blossoms.
I’ve done them in two lights because some of these colours only have a hair’s breadth apart. From bottom to top: Corail Sanguin, Rouge Excessif, Rose Supreme, Rouge Conquerant and Brun Affirme. So, the lipsticks are £46 and the refills are £34. You can find everything HERE. These feel like the absolute treat they are and a win for anyone who likes a fully charged colour on their lips.

Thanks Jane! I have been seeing these everywhere but was wondering about the finer details – like the finish, and the weight, which you discuss here – so thank you even more! 2g is a lot lighter than the usual 3.4g for something like the Chanel Rouge Allure (which is around £35 for colour and case), and these are basically refills already, if they sold the lipsticks separately that is – they already pop out and can be used interchangeably with any Rouge Allure case – I have had a play with them during my lunchbreak thanks to this post 🙂 But this weight and finish sounds more like the Rouge Coco Bloom and Shine collections. This also reminds me of other pop-out lipsticks and interchangeable cases which are marketed as glamour rather than eco, like Lancôme’s drama matte range and Guerlain Rouge G, both at least 3g if not 3.4…well anyway, this essay of a comment is proof that I have enough lipsticks for now 🙂
ha ha – we probably ALL have enough lipsticks! I hear you – they’re more densely pigmented than bloom or shine in my view. I think it will be baby steps on the whole eco thing for luxury brands – they’ve got a lot of sorting out to do on that front.
I was so excited to try these but the testing unit at the store I went to was impossible. All the little end “stickers” appeared to be basically the same color and I got sick of trying to figure it out (that sounds super lazy, doesn’t it? The counter ladies aren’t my favorite at my nearest counter). Looks great on your arm!
It’s not lazy but there are several that are very close to each other in colour – it’s a bit of a mission!
Those colours are lovely and I think I have nearly enough Boots points to buy one! Ume is plum blossom I think 🙂
Yes, I think you’re right re ume – I can’t remember hearing it before.. but I must have, surely?!
