[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] So, my strength is gathering – mornings are ok so I made the most of it and put Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation to the test. I’ve barely worn a stitch of make up in past week and a bit and being frank, I’m so sweaty I haven’t even considered bases. But the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation comes with the ‘weightless’ label so it seems ideal to be put through its paces on a) a hot day and b) a(nother) sweaty, Covid fuelled day.
I was sent three shades to try – none of which were quite right for me. I find them a bit too yellow toned for my neutral skin but I chose Shade 6 which was the closest and perfectly good for a test. In times gone by brands would send the entire collection and I’m so glad they don’t really do that any more (at least, not to me) because 32 shades would be onerous – my arms aren’t long enough to even swatch that amount :-). At £46 it’s a luxury buy and as we know the days of shelling out for amazing foundation are long gone because more purse friendly brands have really stepped up. However, this is a bit more high spec than most with blue light protection, transfer resistance and 16 hour wear. I haven’t tested for the 16 hour wear yet.
If you have loved the Ambient Palettes and your budget fits, I think you will find this blissful. It really is almost traceless on the skin despite delivering a medium pigment level coverage. It’s a barely there feel that delivers the softness and skin uniformity you’d hope for. The formula contains blurring spheres for a soft focus look – I’m not quite sure that I fully saw that but I think with the accompaniments such a blush and highlighter, it will make for a seamless backdrop to support a generally lightful look.

Shades from bottom to top are 6, 7 and 5.5. There’s also a brush which I’m not overly impressed with at £41 – it’s much like any other and I feel certain you will already have an adequate brush and if you don’t, you have fingers!
I have it on the right side of my face while my left side is bare – I used Tatcha The Dewy Serum underneath and praise be to that product because it’s almost all I’ve been able to tolerate (it’s HERE) and I’ve got a little scrape of Gucci Renee Pink Balm. The Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation is HERE and there’s a bare skin/covered skin for each shade which I feel is quite useful – I looked through and thought I may be a 3.5 or a 4. I feel the shades run warm so do factor that in.

No, it doesn’t have that feel to it but dimethicone is on the ingredient list as is trimethylsiloxysilicate (used to hold pigment).

Love this post, just checking is the bottom shade 6 or 7 (if 6 is the bottom as listed, it looks darker than 7 above see what you mean about them being warm. I like the bottom shade if it doesn’t oxidise orange? looks olive skin friendly x
Yes, that’s correct. On me it didn’t oxidise but I’d honestly try to get hold of a shade sample before purchasing. It’s a big outlay to go wrong.
